Jami is a quiet competitor. Though she may be little; she is fierce. It's so fun watching her challenge herself with heavier weights and Rx movements and seeing the sense of accomplishment beam from her presence; in the most humble way. She's always so encouraging and supportive of others in class. Inspired by her husband to join the Combine a little over two years ago, in that time she has made incredible progress.
How did you discover The Combine [CSC] CrossFit? And how long have you been a member?
I discovered CSC through my husband, Jay, two years ago. I had been doing CrossFit at another box and Jay was so impressed with the coaching and programming at CSC, he convinced me it was a better choice.
What has CrossFit at the Combine done for your personally? Physically?
Personally, CrossFit at the Combine has given me more confidence to try new movements and new progressions for those movements. The coaches are amazing at letting you know when your form is lacking and how to improve to the best of your personal abilities. There are members of all different levels of experience and all ages, which is a huge motivator for me to push through any workout.
Physically, I’m stronger and have more endurance than I have ever had in my adult life (I just turned 40 last December and am in the best shape I have ever been in my life).
Who/what inspires/motivates you or why do you workout?
My inspiration to start working out came when my husband decided to become physically fit. I didn’t want to be the unhealthy partner in the relationship. Working out and trying new dietary programs has really added a whole new dimension to our lives. It’s fun!!
What is one of your favorite moments you've had in CrossFit?
I absolutely love when we have community workouts and anything that involves partner wods - Anything where I can feed off of other peoples energy really makes me happy.
What fitness accomplishment are you most proud of? Have you hit any recent PR's or achieved any other goal(s) in our outside of CrossFit? Any future goals?
A few of my proud CrossFit moments were when I first learned the rope climb, kipping pull-ups and when I finally hit consecutive double unders. Muscle ups are on my bucket list.
What are your favorite CrossFit workouts or exercises/movements?
The hero wods are some of my favorite workouts. To workout in the name of our fallen heroes and to recognize the ultimate sacrifices made for our country is beyond meaningful.
When you are not working out, how do you spend your free time?
We go to the beach!!!
